Basketball x 5

This weekend was full of basketball. Jordan played in a tournament with his San Mateo JYO team @ City College of SF. They won both games and then we drove 1 1/2 hours to Tice Valley for his SACBC game. They ended up winning that game also, and not only did Jordan play well....he scored 27 points! Luckily, since SACBC had a large enough lead, Jordan was able to sit most of the 2nd and 4th quarters.

Before we went to Tice Valley, we had dinner with Jeff's cousin Keith at Joe's Cable Car Restaurant in SF. It was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives...It was ok, not our favorite DDD place.

On Sunday, he had another SACBC game, unfortunately they lost by a few points, and his game was not as sharp as the night before.

Jeff took Neil to his game, and Jeff said that he improved. Neil said that he is enjoying the game more and is starting to work more on his ball handling.

Bo Bunny

Yeah! My Bo Bunny shipment came this week!

I had purchased my ALOHA chipboard album years ago in Maui...and I just made it this year...I loved the way it turned out...so, I have been on the lookout for more albums...I couldn't find any...

But, I found some online...so, through the magic of online commerce...love it...

I also bought these letters for the blank album on the top..can you guess what I am going to do with them? Hee hee...I received an extra "A"...

Bo Bunny also has some nice embellishments/tags...when I have more time, I need to look more I to their products...

Nori Notice: check out her new favorite place to sleep....She likes to sleep between the pillows...the pillow shams make a little cave for her. She sleeps from the time I wake up until she hears the boys come home...

Yeah...new couches!

So, a while back...the family decided on a cat instead of a couch...um, well, jeff finally agreed that we needed new couches...so, in September we got a cat...and on Friday we got couches! Yeah! I actually ordered them in December, but, in exactly a month they were delivered...yeah!

It took Neil less than 5 minutes to jump on the chaise. Jeff and Jordan were at basketball practice, so the chaise was up for grabs! The best thing is, Nori does not paw or jump on the couches...yet...

It was a very productive day, I had a tough job...but, I worked on my holiday picture collage...this is the before...all the pictures that we received over the holidays...

...and this is the after...it was tough this year...there were a lot of larger pictures...but, I got them all in! I did have to do a lot of cropping...

Can you find yourself?

Baby, Baby, Baby!

Yesterday, I had lunch with Jeff's "Auntie Pattie" (college friend of his parents), her daughter Yumi and 4 month old granddaughter Zoey. It was a long overdue lunch and we had a fun time chatting about babies, talking story of when my boys were Zoey's age etc! It was also really nice to hold a little one again...

MY BABY, Jordan, turned 12 today...sniff sniff...I can't believe that the little bundle that we brought home 12 years ago is now about 4 inches taller than me....here he is with his birthday cake that I made yesterday...

You can see the cracks in the cake that I covered with ice cream...

I had a very productive day...my friend Shelley came over and we scrap booked for 6 hours...okay, we also ate a lot...but, I did get Leonard's retirement scrap booked!

...and I made another page and put it in a frame for Len...I can post a picture of it since he isn't on FB and doesn't check my BLOG...

Almost like Grandma's

Did you have that favorite dish that only your Mom, Aunt or Grandmother made?

Every holiday and a few of my birthdays...my grandmother, the boys nicknamed her "blue Grandma" because she likes to wear blue, although, she doesn't seem to realize it, would make her famous jellyroll with whipped cream or on my birthday, she made it with ice cream....it was yummy, and I remember my mother telling me that she wouldn't make it because, it was Grandma's speciality.

Well, now that Grandma is not cooking/baking....and Jordan wanted the jellyroll ice cream cake from B&R...I thought I would try. The cake was relatively easy to make...whip it up, spread it in a jellyroll pan and bake. Take it out, invert it on a powder sugar covered dishtowel, roll and cool. Easy!

Um, until it was time to "carefully" unroll and spread the ice cream. The recipe called for chocolate mousse. I think that would have been easier....but, NO! Jordan wanted Cookies and Cream ice cream....grrr...Let's just say "more" ice cream always makes it better! I have no idea what it looks like once I cut it...guess we will find out tomorrow.

Where is my Son?

Okay, if you read my early posts about my frustrations with Jordan and his writing skills...you will be as confused as Jeff and I are. This year has been a total turn-around in regards to Jordan and his writing....instead of dreading it, I am hearing that he is disappointed when not given time in class to work on his writing...????....not Jordan, maybe Neil....but, not Jordan....

So, you be the judge, here is his latest writing assignment from Social Studies...okay, I just finished typing it up....um, yeah, Jordan wrote it....the last paragraph gives him away....
--------------
Golden Sands, Fertile Soil

The immense desert prevents you from advancing any further in your journey. It's golden sand is beautiful and tempts you to cross. But if you do, you know you might not make it out. Before anything starts making any sense, you're crossing the gargantuan desert. By some miracle, you make it across, you see somethint amazing, you see Egypt. A week later, you are wandering along the waterfront of a titanic river. When hunger is about to make you fall, you see a couple men walking in front of you. You follow them and find yourself in a utopian city called Mesopotamia. Can it be the exact same thing as the civilization you found just a week before?

These two civilizations are alike in many ways. Both are polytheistic, meaning they worship many gods. Their writing evolved over years as well. They were treated unfairly based on their social class also. Other common similiarities included mining for turquoise and having irrigation systems. So, both civilizations have a lot in common.

Although Egypt and Mesopotamia have a lot in common, there are also a lot of differences. The mesopotamians created the first form of writing cuneiform. Egypt wasn't invaded as much though because Egypt is defended by deserts unlike Meopotamia. So, Mesopotamian history is more erratic. Egyptians mummified their dead and Mesopotamians creamated their dead. They both have a lot of differences.

"Which one's better?" You think to yourself. Egypt and mesopotamia are both really exciting places. Even though both have their ups and downs, it's just plain hard to pick one. So in conclusion, they both rule.

Recovery...

This past weekend was a 3 day LONG weekend...and did we need it!

Saturday, was the eWaste fundraising event for Jordan's 6th grade classes...in all we collected 18 pallets of "stuff".

I had the kids sign up to "sell" donuts and coffee, but more importantly, to thank people for support the event.

Here are some pictures...

Sunday, was another busy day...Jeff left early to drive to Sacramento for his Aunt's wedding. It was a nice family gathering...but, Since the boys had 3 basketball games, I drove them to Sunnyvale for Jordan's noon game...then to San Leandro for his 3 pm game...and then I went to Neil's 4 pm game. Luckily, my Dad and brothers took Neil...and our friend Bill brought Jordan back to SACBC after his game!

Like I said, we needed another weekend day...even Jeff had Monday off...we saw the Green Hornet with one of Jordan's friends...Arthur, his Tri-City team actually beat Jordan's JYO team on Sunday...and hung out...it was a nice day....and LONG WEEKEND...
