Quick Trips, New Toy and We Have a Winner!!!

As soon as the boys got out of school on Thursday, we headed to SoCal to celebrate Peter Joseph's 13th birthday!!! It was a REALLY quick trip...sorry everyone, we couldn't meet up with you!

Jeff is one of PJ's Godfathers...an honor that he is very proud of...especially since PJ is someone to be proud of...

To celebrate PJ's entrance to "adulthood", Jeff wanted to take him to an "adult" restaurant...so, we went to Fleming's in La Jolla. Jordan and PJ spent a lot of time checking out the Duke/West Virginia game results on the bar tv...Duke won...(Jordan took 2nd place in the office pool... although 80% went into his college fund.)Ahem, Neil....Kalei's father is in the Navy...he probably knows how to handle dangerous weapons....like guided missles....

The whole group...why is my face fuzzy? oh well...the kids look good....

Now for the new toy...my friend Lori Yoshida (not to be confused with the Canadian) and I have been debating about getting a Keurig. Lori's brother Perry has one...and he loves it! Costco (here is the sales plug), has a bundle that includes 72 k-cups of coffee and a personal k-cup! The personal k-cup allows a person to use their own coffee...vs using the store bought k-cups. When I got home from SoCal...I went to Costco and bought one...so far, I love it! It came in handy this am when I had to get up at 5 am to take my mom to Stanford. (BTW: She is doing well.)

Here is the demo by Commander Santiago. He has had his Keurig for a while and still loves it....hey, if the US Government trusts him, I guess I can. Hey Len, after you retire this year, you can demo the Keurig at Costco!

On an ending note....what do the numbers: 1,12,18,22,42, and 18 have in common? They were all on Mitzi Higashi's Lottery ticket. Mitzi and her husband are friends of my parents...she became California's newest millionnaire...$37Million to be exact...Congratulations Mrs. Higashi!!!

Jordan's last play of the season!!!!

Jordan and Neil played excellent games yesterday in the Eden Jamboree!

Jordan had the last game at 7 p.m. ... and he had the last play....

We were behind at the beginning of the 4th quarter (27-19) and battled back to 29-27 (2 points behind) with 25 seconds...

Check out the video...a great way to end a great season!!!

Booties!

Yeah! I finished my booties...okay, not MY booties, but booties for Landon's baby-to-be. Now, all we have to do is wait for the baby!

It's the same pattern that I made for Jeff's cousin Karen, just in blue and white. It's an easy pattern and I knew I could whip it up quickly because I have made them a few times.

Now, to start a new project...shhh!!! It's a secret...since I know the person reads my Blog....hee hee...

Baby Quilt!

I don't know if you realize it...but, there has been an epidemic of babies....Jeff's father's cousin, Jerry, had a baby girl earlier this year....then Jeff's cousin is having a baby next month...then her sister found out she is pregnant and is due in July.

Then there is Jeff's chiropractor and his trainee....their wives are having their first babies....so, I just finished a baby quilt for Jeff's trainee, Landon. Isn't it cute? I am working on the booties today...he is having a baby boy...and I thought this was a really cute print. I love the duck/bubble fabric in the middle...it is a soft baby fleece....and fleece dust is ALL OVER my craft room!

Yeah...one Award presentation down...two to go!

Today was the Awards Assembly for the Warwick Basketball team. Both teams struggled, but they did improve by the end of the season. Each player received an engraved medal and a round of applause!

Here is Jordan accepting his medal from Coach Steve. Jeff is hoping that Coach Steve will be back next year...he hinted at this, which surprises us since his youngest son is in the 6th grade and will be promoted this year to Junior High. Here are the boys! Coach Steve said they were a "quiet" group....

Warwick also had a girl's tam....here is the picture with both teams...such a cute group!

Nah.....this can't be real....Sheri is posting twice in 2 days???

Hee hee....I just wanted to post a picture of the purse I just finished.... It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be....except, I did have a brain lapse and thought I was short on material, so I went to Joann's and after I finished the handles, I realized that I had 4
handles...the original material would have worked perfectly....but that's okay.

This was different from the other purses because I had to cut, piece and quilt the outside material....it was fun...and I am really happy that all of the "points" meet....the only problem...I didn't realize how the purse would be assembled and the final layout wasn't what I wanted....

Live and learn...lots of additional notes in the pattern book now....

Seems like there is a pattern....

Yes, it seems like I start every BLOG post with some excuse for being a slacker...actually, the reverse is true...I have been busy trying to meet 'deadlines'....The first was I found out that I was meeting Baby Ella on Saturday when we were in Sacramento for the Sac Betsuin Basketball Tourney. So, I quickly cut and crochet-trimmed the two blankets below.

I love the "I "heart" Mommy" and "I "heart" Daddy". Both blankets were for Miss Ella Kazuko Minamide, the daughter of Jeff's father's cousin, Jerry. Jerry is a year younger than Jeff...so, it's so nice to see him as a father...although, we didn't see Jerry...his wife, Marley, brought Ella out to Neil's basketball game.
Ella was such a good little girl! She slept through the whole bame also!!!

Before Jordan's second game (which they won), we went to Nationwide Freezer Meats for lunch. My brother and father joined us...they drove up to decompress and go to the Red Hawk...also at lunch was Auntie Marion, Auntie Joanne, the Watanabes, cousin Karen and Jeff's grandmother. Karen's husband, Haku-Jeff, was babysitting the boys at another table...

Jordan's team...they lost the first game, won the second game and lost the third...but I think they had a good time...at least the parents (mothers) did on Saturday night...we took over the breakfast area of the hotel to munch and drink....hee hee...

Neil's team....they had a good time....we will leave it at that!

My cousin is home safely! She was living in Waikiki for about 6 months while her husband was working there....they were scheduled to fly home on Sunday, Feb 28th...the day AFTER the TSUNAMI warnings for the Hawaiian islands. I am so glad she made it home safely!!!

The main reason why I have not been updating my Blog...Karen (from the picture above) has a baby shower this Saturday...I had to finish her present....Phew! I finished it earlier this week...booties and all!
The other reason was because, I still hadn't finished my friend Lori's CHRISTMAS present. Yes, I know...it's almost Easter...but, hey, it's Spring colors...I am just in time!
Now, before I start Ella's "welcome baby" present and Susan (Karen's sister) baby present...I am making a quilted purse...I'll post a picture later! It's a new pattern that I have been "studying" for a while....I hope it turns out!
