Last Saturday, we buried Mom's ashes in the family plot at Yamato Cemetery in Salinas. This was the first weekend we could bury her ashes because my brother's family left for Japan right after the Memorial and then we left for Hawaii for 2 1/2 weeks...but, it's ok...in a way it made it a lot easier.
When my paternal Grandfather passed away in 1978, the family bought a large plot at the Japanese cemetery. So, this is where my father, brother Dean, and uncles will be buried.
Friday night, we placed letters and items in the vault with Mom's and sealed the vault.

The Japanese, and especially the Buddhists, have a different way of looking at death. To me, having Mom's picture on our family altar and taking flowers to the cemetery is a way to thank her for everything she has done for us.

It was a beautiful day and Mom would have loved the flowers from family, friends and her garden...Mom I miss you....
