Ok, so, I always thought these shirts were silly...but, when I saw it, I couldn't resist...come on...it's PURPLE and it says "My Aunt..."

The funny thing is Kylie wanted to wear it right away!

Lemonade out of lemons....

Before school started we cleaned up the lemon tree and Neil made lemonade...the first batch was ok...after we added a little more sugar when he wasn't looking...then he made another batch. I think I am going to talk him into using Splenda...he is using way too much sugar....

Mom...

Last Saturday, we buried Mom's ashes in the family plot at Yamato Cemetery in Salinas. This was the first weekend we could bury her ashes because my brother's family left for Japan right after the Memorial and then we left for Hawaii for 2 1/2 weeks...but, it's ok...in a way it made it a lot easier.

When my paternal Grandfather passed away in 1978, the family bought a large plot at the Japanese cemetery. So, this is where my father, brother Dean, and uncles will be buried.

Friday night, we placed letters and items in the vault with Mom's and sealed the vault.

The Japanese, and especially the Buddhists, have a different way of looking at death. To me, having Mom's picture on our family altar and taking flowers to the cemetery is a way to thank her for everything she has done for us.

It was a beautiful day and Mom would have loved the flowers from family, friends and her garden...Mom I miss you....

First Day of school..and has anyone been to Portland?

Today was the first day of school....YEAH!

The boys were off with their supplies in hand...boys are so different...they did not want new clothes to wear on the first day...just their favorite shirt and shorts...ok...I have a feeling I will be buying new jeans soon...when it gets colder...

Speaking of the weather, we are having another heatwave...and I leave next week for Seattle/Portland...they are having showers...oh yeah...

Anyone have suggestions for Portland? We are going to Voodoo Donut and the Saturday Marketplace for sue...anything else?

Sleepover at Auntie Karen & Uncle Haku's house!

This is the first of many "catch-up" blog posts...sorry, been busy getting the boys ready for school....

Last week, the boys stayed over at Karen, Haku and baby Kalena's house while I was at my father's house...Karen took then to a special otter feeding at the Monterey Bay Aquarium...she has a friend who works there and she let them go "on top" to see the feeding...

The boys loved the baby otter...who name was a number...but, I forgot the number....opps!

They also had a magic card tournament...

And other mischief...

It was a nice break for the boys, thank you Karen and Haku for the wonderful sleepover....

Baby, baby, baby

Ok, maybe I am watching too much ET...but, seriously, I finished Yumi's baby blanket last night...since she isn't on FB, I can post a picture...

I got the pattern from one of Mom's books...I resisted the urge to buy purple ribbon...the pink is really cute, eh...the best thing is...if the baby is a boy, all I have to do is change the ribbon!

Now to work on the shower card...

Leis...

While in Hawaii, I found a great supply store for yArn and ribbon leis...here are two leis that I made for Jordan's 6th grade promotion...yes, I know that school hasn't even started...

This is a double ribbon lei...Jordan wants me to make some for his friends...

This is a 4 straw flat lei...lots of fun! Marsha made one in blue and white for PJ...I have Lori making one now....it was easier than I thought!
