Both boys were under some type of pressure Thursday....
At Neil's Lego Camp, they learned about pneumatic (air pressure) and hydraulic pressure. Since legos don't handle fluids well (Neil said that hydraulic pressure can't use water because it would evaporate...cute, eh?), he used pneumatic pressure to power his car.
It was Jordan's last night at basketball camp. Jeff is starting to wonder if he is too nit-picky and critical of Jordan...all I will say is "duh"...
All in all, the boys and I are happy with the camps this week...both boys have thoroughly enjoyed the camps.
On Monday, we are meeting my friend Teresa for lunch...so, we will swing by the store that provided the instructors for Neil's camp. Maybe, we can pick up some motors, leads, wheels, gears....

More gears and Braces!
Today, BOTH boys had appointments with the orthodontist...good news...Neil can wait...bad news...Jordan is ready for his second phase...he had braces on for about a year, two years ago. This time he is going to have them on for about 24 months...lovely...

Today, Neil learned about drives: sprocket, gear train, belt and pulley drive. Neil's favorite is the sprocket drive because it goes faster when it uses gears and chain. During class he made a gondola car...it moved back and forth on a wire. Neil also added a propeller on the back.
Neil took a picture with his phone because I got late. Jordan and I were trying to wash the van....grrrrrr....that boy works so ssssllllloooowwwww....

The class also built an Olympic Sports complex.....which resulted in thousands of lego blocks and pieces all over the conference room....I am so glad it wasn't MY HOUSE!!!

Airplanes and propellers
In today's Lego class, they worked on airplanes...okay, they did not take flight, but, they did have working propellers....

Jordan had Day 2 of his basketball camp. Jeff and I think Jordan is getting a lot out of the camp...he seems really excited about going...and he even found Jeff a book about coaching basketball for Father's Day...too funny...

Legos, motors and more basketball
Today was the first day of summer camps. Neil had Lego Construction camp from 1-4 today...followed by the last week of swimming at 4:35...followed by Jordan's Zebra basketball camp in San Jose from 6:30-9:30...it was a long day!
Neil built two cars in today's camp...the first was a wind car...it used the large "base" tiles as ... The instructor brought in a fan that would push the cars..one kid built a car that went about 14 feet!
I didn't get to see Neil's car...he liked his motorized car more...so, he was working on that car. Here it is...

And here it is in action!
Another "PRO" for the iPad...I think my video worked...a "CON" I couldn't open a zip file that Gary sent me...

Last game...and awards
Today was the last game for the CC Cobra tournament. Neil had a good last game...a little more hustle and a lot more boxing out.

Afterwards, they had a medal presentation...all in all...good friends, a lot of people that Jeff and I knew from Fresno, our TRUE friends from Fremont area and beyond...and basketball...

After the game, we all met at The Doghouse Grill for lunch. It was quite yummy..the tri-tip sandwich was huge! Jordan ate his Monster burger and then half of my tri-tip sandwich...I took some of the meat out and gave it to Darren's parents.
Chukchansi update: Dad and Dean won...Dean won $400 on the penny slots and came back with $350. Jeff and Gary came back with t-shirts....

Dinner with Auntie Angel
Last night we met Angel for dinner. We are in town for the Cobra basketball tournament. Neil had a 9am game this morning.

Angel picked a Chinese restaurant that turned out to be the same place we had dinner after my Fresno State graduation...too funny...Ang just discovered it a few years ago...guess she didn't want to go to dinner withnus 20 years ago.
