Part 2 SoCal

So, when asked, "Where are you going now that the Ninja Tournament is over?" Jeff's response is "Disneyland"!

But, please...let me out this in perspective....he said, "let's leave TONIGHT" when we pulled into the driveway after the tourney...I convinced him to drive to Salinas...and spend the night at my Dad's house.

On our way down, we decided to go down the 101...Jeff told me it was for a change of scenery...the real reason, Susie Q's Santa Maria rub. Sorry Kristy, it was a quick trip, so, we couldn't visit...we will stop when we need more seasoning!

Unfortunately, it took FOREVER to get to Little Tokyo for ramen...but, we eventually made it! Yeah!

After checking into the hotel, we met the Kumagawas for dinner at the Loft...sigh, I forgot to take pictures of food...we were REALLY HUNGRY!

Tuesday we went to Disneyland...it was nice. The longest line we waited in was for Nemo...maybe 20 minutes...after that no long waits thanks to the Fast Pass and small crowds.

Cousin Natalie took the day off and joined us at the Happiest Place on Earth! My plans for a "rent a cousin" backfired since Jordan wimped out and didn't want to go on any more roller-coaster rides AFTER Space Mountain. I knew Neil wouldn't go...so, I asked Nat if she wanted to join us.

Our friends Nick, Jazel and Isaac also were able to meet up with us.

We only spent one day at Disneyland....Jeff had a meeting with clients on Wednesday, and then we drove back to the Bay Area.

What did we do while Jeff was at his meeting? Well....there is this wonderful bead shop called, The San Gabriel Bead Company....FABULOUS! I picked up a few things...this is one project I picked up...I couldn't sleep last Saturday...so, I made put it together...I am still debating about adding more dangles...but, less is more...right?

The start of 10 days of BLOGS...sorry

So, it has been a busy few weeks. Good Friday was the start of the boys Spring break...we opened Spring Break hosting the Ninja basketball tournament...and we ended Spring Break attending the Dragons tournament.

I'll start at the beginning...Coach A celebrated is birthday on Thursday while we set up the gym for the tournament. It is so nice seeing the team bond...it is a really nice group of boys and families. It makes me sad that the 5th graders will be dropping out to form their own team next month.

I made these bracelets for the Moms to commemorate our first tournament. I love the basketball hoop and charm. Coach A felt bad for the Dads, so, he got them socks! LOL!

Unfortunately, we lost our first Ninja tourney to the Foster City Flyers...yes, we beat them in their tournament the prior week...more on this in a later post...

I need to log in from my laptop to add the photos...so, check back later if they aren't in the post.

Faceless No More!

I made it to Joann's after helping at school. Thanks to Andi's suggestion, I got over my fear of embroidering the doll's face. The secret is to practice on a photocopy of her face! I think she turned out okay for the first try...she will go off to her new home this weekend.

Still Faceless...

I finished her kimono, obi and zori. Then I realized that I gave away my embroidery floss...so, I am off to Joann's tomorrow.

The pattern calls for embroidering flowers on the kimono. The hard part is going to be the face...I am suppose to use beads, but, I don't want to use beads since I am giving this to little girl.

I am REALLY NERVOUS about doing a face...at least I can rip it out if it looks horrible.

UNLESS, I FIND SOMEONE TO MAKE THE FACE FOR ME...any takers?

Is there a Ninja in the house?

Um, there were 5!

Ok, it started off with just having one of Jordan's teammates over, because his Mom had to take his older brother to the Rebels tourney in Sacramento and he would have missed two practices. After Jordan and Neil decided to change plans on going to the SACBC banquet, the sleepover exploded! But, it worked out fine, except the original boy came down with a fever and missed Sunday's practice.

On another Ninja note...the other reason why I was busy last week is because I was making raffle tickets. Our tournament is in two weeks and as a fundraiser we are raffling off an iPad 2Wi-Fi + 3G. LIMITED TO 100 TICKETS! I had to Tinker with the picture to -VOID- it...sigh!

Good News: the tickets came out GREAT!
Bad News: I can't get rid of my huge Fiskars paper cutter because it has a perforating blade...and I perforated all the tickets on the dotted lines.

Oh no! no Face, no clothes!!!

My latest project...a doll...I have never made a doll before, so, this was going to be a challenge....the good thing has been, it has been super easy! I started Friday night and I assembled her body tonight, Sunday. Next, the kimono, slippers and to find someone to help me with her face.

Like my post title? I knew it would catch someone's eye!

Out with the old...in with the new!

It has been a busy week....after many of years and a new backyard neighbor...we were finally able to properly replace our backyard fence. The prior owner was renting the place and on limited income, so, she only wanted to pay a few hundred dollars...so, Jeff put in a cheap fence himself. Now with new neighbors who were willing to go in 50%, we were able to get a new fence!

The old...

The NEW material....

The new fence!

Is it silly to be excited about a new fence?
