Still Faceless...

I finished her kimono, obi and zori. Then I realized that I gave away my embroidery floss...so, I am off to Joann's tomorrow.

The pattern calls for embroidering flowers on the kimono. The hard part is going to be the face...I am suppose to use beads, but, I don't want to use beads since I am giving this to little girl.

I am REALLY NERVOUS about doing a face...at least I can rip it out if it looks horrible.

UNLESS, I FIND SOMEONE TO MAKE THE FACE FOR ME...any takers?

Is there a Ninja in the house?

Um, there were 5!

Ok, it started off with just having one of Jordan's teammates over, because his Mom had to take his older brother to the Rebels tourney in Sacramento and he would have missed two practices. After Jordan and Neil decided to change plans on going to the SACBC banquet, the sleepover exploded! But, it worked out fine, except the original boy came down with a fever and missed Sunday's practice.

On another Ninja note...the other reason why I was busy last week is because I was making raffle tickets. Our tournament is in two weeks and as a fundraiser we are raffling off an iPad 2Wi-Fi + 3G. LIMITED TO 100 TICKETS! I had to Tinker with the picture to -VOID- it...sigh!

Good News: the tickets came out GREAT!
Bad News: I can't get rid of my huge Fiskars paper cutter because it has a perforating blade...and I perforated all the tickets on the dotted lines.

Oh no! no Face, no clothes!!!

My latest project...a doll...I have never made a doll before, so, this was going to be a challenge....the good thing has been, it has been super easy! I started Friday night and I assembled her body tonight, Sunday. Next, the kimono, slippers and to find someone to help me with her face.

Like my post title? I knew it would catch someone's eye!

Out with the old...in with the new!

It has been a busy week....after many of years and a new backyard neighbor...we were finally able to properly replace our backyard fence. The prior owner was renting the place and on limited income, so, she only wanted to pay a few hundred dollars...so, Jeff put in a cheap fence himself. Now with new neighbors who were willing to go in 50%, we were able to get a new fence!

The old...

The NEW material....

The new fence!

Is it silly to be excited about a new fence?

Kumagawas and Hews...

Burt, one of Jeff's best friends came up from SoCal for a visit, so we met up at Randy's house. Both Burt and Randy had been Jeff's roommates at UCSD.

Times are different from the ole college days....there are kids involved...they range from almost one to twelve...

It was a long day for us. We started off leaving the house at 8 for a 9 am basketball game at the Eden Jamboree. Both boys played at 9 and 11. Jordan's team won both games, with Jordan scoring 2 free throws and a 3 pointer at the end of the game to win by 1 point. Neil's team won one and lost one. Neil did well at rebounds and scored two points.

After the last game, we headed to Ninja practice where Jeffrey and I helped color team posters for the April tournament. We have such an efficient group of parents...all of the posters were done, largely due to one parents plotter printer...easy peasy...

Tomorrow will be another busy day...heading to church to make lunch for the major service, followed by Ninja practice and dinner with the SoCal folks...

Creative day

For the first time in quite a few months, I took out my sewing machine and got some projects done!

The first bag was a Joann's project that I bought about a month ago when I went shopping with my friend Shelley. I loved the circles and the trim match the fabric perfectly! It's purple, but not overly purple!

When I was in Salinas a few weeks ago, I found this "Cat in the Hat" material...perfect for my MIL who is a kindergarten teacher. I made the panels into pockets...here is side 1

And side 2

Lastly, I made Nori a little cat toy, I had leftover yarn...and then of course I ran out...sigh....well, it is a prototype...I have a lot of cotton yarn since I have been making washcloths....

Ninja season has started!

Yeah!!!! Fever free...but, extremely weak. Jordan went to his first Ninja practice....he had to go since they were taking a team picture for upcoming tournaments.

Since Coach A said that practice was going to be light, he participated...but, I thought he was going to die....but, he survived.

Silly boys, Jeff said, let's take individual pictures...all the other kids stood ON the rock...except for Jordan...of course. Poor baby, he looks so thin, he had lost five pounds in 6 weeks, primarily from this last week of fevers...

After practice, we drove down to Salinas for Dean's 47th birthday! Dad did a great job getting a cake...and Dean was happy. Auntie Irene and Grandma took him for a ride, he wanted to go see Mom at the cemetery and to a movie, Rango...Auntie Irene said it was bad...and then they met us for dinner.
