Oh no! no Face, no clothes!!!

My latest project...a doll...I have never made a doll before, so, this was going to be a challenge....the good thing has been, it has been super easy! I started Friday night and I assembled her body tonight, Sunday. Next, the kimono, slippers and to find someone to help me with her face.

Like my post title? I knew it would catch someone's eye!

Out with the old...in with the new!

It has been a busy week....after many of years and a new backyard neighbor...we were finally able to properly replace our backyard fence. The prior owner was renting the place and on limited income, so, she only wanted to pay a few hundred dollars...so, Jeff put in a cheap fence himself. Now with new neighbors who were willing to go in 50%, we were able to get a new fence!

The old...

The NEW material....

The new fence!

Is it silly to be excited about a new fence?

Kumagawas and Hews...

Burt, one of Jeff's best friends came up from SoCal for a visit, so we met up at Randy's house. Both Burt and Randy had been Jeff's roommates at UCSD.

Times are different from the ole college days....there are kids involved...they range from almost one to twelve...

It was a long day for us. We started off leaving the house at 8 for a 9 am basketball game at the Eden Jamboree. Both boys played at 9 and 11. Jordan's team won both games, with Jordan scoring 2 free throws and a 3 pointer at the end of the game to win by 1 point. Neil's team won one and lost one. Neil did well at rebounds and scored two points.

After the last game, we headed to Ninja practice where Jeffrey and I helped color team posters for the April tournament. We have such an efficient group of parents...all of the posters were done, largely due to one parents plotter printer...easy peasy...

Tomorrow will be another busy day...heading to church to make lunch for the major service, followed by Ninja practice and dinner with the SoCal folks...

Creative day

For the first time in quite a few months, I took out my sewing machine and got some projects done!

The first bag was a Joann's project that I bought about a month ago when I went shopping with my friend Shelley. I loved the circles and the trim match the fabric perfectly! It's purple, but not overly purple!

When I was in Salinas a few weeks ago, I found this "Cat in the Hat" material...perfect for my MIL who is a kindergarten teacher. I made the panels into pockets...here is side 1

And side 2

Lastly, I made Nori a little cat toy, I had leftover yarn...and then of course I ran out...sigh....well, it is a prototype...I have a lot of cotton yarn since I have been making washcloths....

Ninja season has started!

Yeah!!!! Fever free...but, extremely weak. Jordan went to his first Ninja practice....he had to go since they were taking a team picture for upcoming tournaments.

Since Coach A said that practice was going to be light, he participated...but, I thought he was going to die....but, he survived.

Silly boys, Jeff said, let's take individual pictures...all the other kids stood ON the rock...except for Jordan...of course. Poor baby, he looks so thin, he had lost five pounds in 6 weeks, primarily from this last week of fevers...

After practice, we drove down to Salinas for Dean's 47th birthday! Dad did a great job getting a cake...and Dean was happy. Auntie Irene and Grandma took him for a ride, he wanted to go see Mom at the cemetery and to a movie, Rango...Auntie Irene said it was bad...and then they met us for dinner.

Goodbye to good friends...

There have been a lot of friends that we have lost the past few weeks...a friend's father, my aunt, a church youth advisor, a PTA mom/teacher's aide from school, a few of my father's friends. Quite a few...in two weeks...plus another friend has brought her mother home with Hospice. I know what she is going though and my heart goes out to her and her family.

Jordan is still fighting his temperature. He was "normal" all day yesterday until about 4 p.m. Then it spiked to 100+. This morning I took him to the doctor and they said he was fine...of course he didn't have a temperature because it was 10 am....but, come 6 pm...102! Grrrrr....I guess he is home again tomorrow...

The final note for tonight....my FAVORITE Starbucks travel mug from Hawaii was tossed into recycling. The tab for the lid broke off...and knowing me I will cut myself when trying to get my caffeine....bye good friend...you were so good to me...

Sacramento Basketball

On Friday, we met some of the Ninja families for dinner at Famous Dave's in Tracy. (L to R) Brandon (Eric's older brother), Eric, Jordan and Arthur...decided to try the FEAST...I think they wanted their food served on a garbage can lid....can you believe that there was 1 piece of chicken and a tiny bit of brisket leftover?

Neil was happy with his kids meal...because it came with OREOS!!!

Saturday's breakfast was at Pancake Circus in Sacramento. Ryan and his Dad Morris were able to join us. The rest of the San Mateo JYO team drove up that day.

Jordan's Jump ball in the second game. I don't think the other kid got off the ground.

Jordan ended up getting sick Saturday night and only playing just short of half the championship game on Sunday. He was running a temp Saturday night, but, he insisted on playing and he had a "normal" temp before the game. His temp when we left the gym was 101...but it spiked up to 103 on the way home. In the end, JYO lost the game to Tri-City! Arthur and Eric, two of the kids from Friday's dinner picture are on the Tri-City team.
